Education and English Classes

MARSS has a range of free classes tailored to different skill levels. Our classes can help migrants and refugees settle into life in Australia, develop language skills and find employment.

English for Living

Our English classes will help you to improve your English for living in Australia, and are suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.

Our English for living  classes will help you:

  • Learn general written and spoken English 

  • Practice your English skills through informal conversation classes

  • Meet others who share similar English language goals 

  • For clients who are unable to attend face to face classes, MARSS also offers English language training through our Home Tutor Program. Our experienced volunteer tutors can come to you to support your learning.

English for Employment 

A workplace focused English language class which supports participants to  develop their English skills with a focus on obtaining employment, or pursuing their vocational education and training goals.

English for Workplace and Business Skills

English classes focused on preparing you to enter the Australian Workforce. You will learn about basic work signs and symbols, how to write workplace texts, engage in formal and informal conversations and gain confidence in work presentations.

You will:

  • Learn vocabulary and expressions for the workplace

  • Build workplace conversation skills

  • Gain confidence speaking in a group

  • Prepare yourself to succeed in your current or future jobs

Accredited Training Courses

MARSS is currently offering CHC33015 - Certificate III in Individual Support (Aging, Home and Community) in 2021.

This Accredited Training Course offers students the opportunity to commence their career in the community services sector by providing the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively in an aged and/or home and community setting.  

It is intended that the vocational outcome for this qualification will be a multi-disciplinary outcome that allows graduates to work in a range of roles across the community services industry. This will be achieved by the inclusion of elective units from various specialisation areas that provide students with a broad knowledge base across the sector.  

The course approximately takes 18 months to complete

Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for jobs within the Australian community service industry which may include:

  • Care assistant 

  • Client Assistant 

  • Home care assistant  

  • Residential Care Worker 

  • Residential Support Worker 

  • Personal Care Assistant 

  • Transport Support Worker 

  • Residential aide
