On the 27th May, MARSS hosted a fundraising Dinner to help the rebuilding efforts in Fiji after the devastating Cyclone Winston. The fundraising dinner was held at the Hellenic Club in Woden, and was well attended by various dignitaries, Diplomats, High Commissions, Members of Parliament and Government. MARSS was also honoured to have MARSS Patron, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove and His Excellency the Governor-General attended this fundraising event and were also present for a moving tribute performance from the Fijian and Samoan communities honouring the victims of Cyclone Winston.
Throughout the night there were several performances by the various groups, including by MARSS HSS staff member Thrishila Parshu Ram, Pallivi Warden, the United Nesian Group, Island Breeze, Fofanga, and The Faumius, Samoan Community.
MARSS is pleased to announce that a grand total of $25,000 was raised on this night. The money will be donated to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster and Relief Fund. MARSS would like to thank all guests, performers, sponsors and donors who contributed to making this fundraising dinner a great success.
